Job summary

Forest River Bus is seeking a mid-level Mechanical Engineer to develop, design and implement mechanical components, assemblies and product improvements using CAD/CAE tools. You will work solo or in a team to deliver cost-effective solutions that meet customer specs and industry standards, while supporting production launches and providing technical support to Sales, Service, Planning and Purchasing.

  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work.
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors.
  • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process.
  • Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager and/or Director of Engineering, this is a mid-level mechanical engineering position where the individual develops, designs and implements mechanical components, assemblies, sales options and product/process improvements, using computer-aided drafting both individually and/or in a team, as well as other duties as assigned or requested. The role requires exercising independent judgment, discretion and action in a team environment, developing optimal, cost‑effective products, production processes, equipment, components and methods in accordance with customer specifications, sound engineering principles, current technology, quality, regulatory compliance and industry standards. The position also supports production launch activities for new or revised products and provides technical support to Sales, Customer Service, Planning, Purchasing and other departments as requested.

Basic Skill Requirements

Work Environment and Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in an office as well as a climate‑controlled manufacturing environment. The noise level is usually moderate. In the plant, eye protection and hearing protection are mandatory, and a dust mask may be required in identified areas.
