Job summary

Reframe Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Co-op for FAB1, our first full-scale microfactory in Billerica, MA, this fall. You’ll rotate across the ME team, sketching, modeling, building, testing, and improving parts in a fast-paced shop environment.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with CAD, prototyping, and integration with robotics and factory operations while collaborating across rotating projects and engineers.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; junior or senior standing preferred.
• Solid CAD skills and the ability to go from rough idea to modeled part quickly.
• Comfortable operating shop tools and equipment safely—mills, lathes, laser cutters, welding, 3D printing, etc.
• A fast learner who can pick up new tools and project context with minimal ramp-up.
• Bias toward action: prefer building a rough prototype and learning from it.

Responsibilities

• Design and iterate real mechanical design problems across FAB1 projects—fixtures, workstations, material handling, tooling.
• Fabricate and assemble prototypes and production hardware using mills, lathes, laser cutters, welders, 3D printers, and shop tools.
• Rotate across multiple active workstreams, contributing where the team needs hands and ideas.
• Test, troubleshoot, and iterate toward production-ready results on the shop floor.
• Produce clear CAD models and basic technical drawings for teammates or vendors.
