Job summary

UNC Chapel Hill’s Facilities Engineering department seeks a Facility Mechanical Engineer to lead design review and construction administration for mechanical and plumbing systems in capital projects.

The role requires adherence to UNC-Chapel Hill Plumbing and Mechanical Guidelines and collaboration with architects, engineers, and campus staff to ensure safety, reliability, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• Licensure as a Professional Engineer in mechanical or plumbing engineering preferred/required.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical/plumbing design principles, codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Design review and construction administration for mechanical and plumbing systems in capital projects.
• Maintain and enforce Plumbing and Mechanical Guidelines.
• Represent Facilities’ mechanical/plumbing interests on capital projects and coordinate with architects, engineers, and campus staff.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently and provide engineering support to multiple departments.
