Job summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide mechanical engineering support to the project team, ensuring facility and site designs meet project specifications in public and private sectors. This role is based in Perrysburg, OH and involves mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities include design development, code interpretation, and field verification, with opportunities to lead teams and contribute to diverse projects across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Engineer-in-Training certificate required; PE in Ohio preferred.
• 4–8 years of progressive professional mechanical engineering.
• LEED certification a plus.
• AutoCAD and REVIT experience preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Valid driver’s license with demonstrated safe driving practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical calculations and develop work packages and engineering documents.
• Interpret and apply applicable federal, state and local codes.
• Execute thorough technical reviews of design documentation and provide actionable feedback.
• Analyze technical issues within the Mechanical Engineering discipline, aided and supported by other specialist disciplines.
• Conduct field investigations to determine existing conditions.
• Travel to field for project scoping, verification, construction support, and meeting with clients.
• Report to Mechanical Discipline Lead on progress of work and ensure coordination between the engineering, design, and project management teams.
• Mentor, direct work, and supervise junior team members.

Education

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering

Engineer-in-Training certificate

Professional Engineer license (Ohio preferred)
