Description

SUMMARY

OVIVO is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join its Biosolids Management & Resource Recovery Group in Salt Lake City. This important position performs engineering and design work to support sales orders and product improvement projects. As an engineer, perform engineering and design work, with limited direction from more senior engineers and department management, in making adaptations and modifications to assigned product to meet specification requirements and meet the customer's needs. Responsible for design integrity and manufacturability requirements as it pertains to the assigned products.

HERE'S WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Review all applicable job data, including POs, project plans and specifications to determine characteristics of orders and establish engineering objectives providing comments when applicable.
  • Prepares layouts, detailed drawings, calculations, specifications and instructions necessary for project success, with limited supervision.
  • Performs general engineering analysis with limited supervision.
  • May manage the technical aspect of projects through the engineering process by assigning work, controlling standards and evaluating results while controlling engineering costs. Reporting any variations to management.
  • Perform duties unique to functional areas such as parametric 3D modeling, detailing, maintaining and improving standard designs.
  • Document and update design procedures on a regular basis.
  • Provides technical support to Marketing through the generation of sales assistance drawings or calculations.
  • May generate new ideas for product improvement, reliability and cost reduction.
  • May provide technical support to shop and field start-up services.
  • Adhere to all company and corporate policies; Advises project managers and / or other managers on project status.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS WILL INCLUDE:

  • Proficient in the use of 3D modeling software (Autodesk Inventor experience is preferred but not required), and MS Office products.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical equations to a variety of complex, non-standard situations.
  • Ability to read and understand specification, fabrication, erection, and standard engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of machining, welding, steel fabrication, and assembly techniques.
  • Knowledge of drafting standards for both structural and mechanical design.
  • Ability to understand English, at advanced level, via written and verbal communication.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL POSSESS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an ABET accredited university.
  • 3+ year's professional experience in steel/industrial equipment and systems design, or a related field involving steel fabrication and machine design.

WILL I NEED TO TRAVEL?

  • Travel for training and project site visits, less than 5%.
