Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, completed by December 2026.
• Hands-on build team experience (Formula SAE, Baja, solar car, robotics, etc.).
• Experience designing and building physical hardware (CAD/FEA/CAE).
• Familiarity with CAD to navigate/modify 3D models (SolidWorks preferred).
• Strong hands-on shop skills; able to work in a lab/garage environment.
• Ability to write clear technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support the mechanical engineering development of Applied Vehicles.
• Contribute to the mechanical design of the external sensor suite, compute assembly, and vehicle interior.
• Perform structural and thermal analysis of mechanical designs.
• Support design, analysis, and validation of systems at component to integrated vehicle level.
• Design with scalability and manufacturability in mind.
• Collaborate with engineers to design, fabricate, and assemble test fixtures.
• Perform incoming quality control on design hardware, including inspection and testing.
• Set up devices under test and run test scripts.
• Produce detailed documentation for test, maintenance, safety, and processes.
• Work cross-functionally to align with needs across the organization.
