NuVision Engineering seeks a Mechanical Engineer for their Mechanical Stress Improvement Process team. This entry-level position involves conducting finite element analysis and supporting engineering assessments for nuclear power plants. Ideal candidates will have a BS in Engineering, technical problem-solving skills, and familiarity with ANSYS software.
NuVision Engineering has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer to support our Mechanical Stress Improvement Process (MSIP) team. The MSIP team is responsible for finite element analysis on reactor vessel piping, components, and proprietary NVE equipment to support the implementation of MSIP , a patented process to mitigate stress corrosion cracking in both boiling water reactor (BWR) and pressurized water reactor (PWR) plants.
In addition to MSIP-related work, the team may also support other engineering analysis efforts for nuclear power plants, including mechanical evaluations, thermal analysis, and structural assessments as needed.
This role requires strong technical problem-solving skills, application of engineering mechanics, analytical competency, and effective communication and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform finite element analysis (FEA) of nonlinear systems, including reactor vessel nozzle welds, piping, and custom tooling/components.
· Prepare detailed reports and technical documentation outlining analysis results and process parameters associated with MSIP.
· Collaborate with engineering team members to support the development and improvement of equipment and processes.
· Provide occasional domestic and international travel to customer sites to conduct meetings, perform technical work, and support a variety of project-related activities. Local travel to customer and partner facilities, along with on-call and local support during plant outages.
Required Qualifications:
· BS Degree in Engineering, in an engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical, from an accredited college or University.
· Proficiency in ANSYS Mechanical APDL and ANSYS Workbench.
· Experience with Mathcad or similar mathematical computing tools.
· Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections III and XI.
· Experience using 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
· Ability to obtain unescorted access to nuclear power facilities
· Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle for local travel
