Mechanical Engineer, Must have PE in Alabama

Seeking a Mechanical Engineer to work in the office in Pittsburgh, PA, onsite in Alabama, or remotely, preferably in the EST zone.

The Engineer shall provide engineering design and details, working in conjunction with Project Managers and other team members to successfully complete mechanical design and engineering for commercial and industrial projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform analysis and calculations for sizing mechanical equipment and piping systems according to project requirements and applicable codes and standards.
  2. Provide technical and design guidance for the preparation of construction drawings (equipment layouts, plans, cross sections, details, flow diagrams, P&IDs, bills of material, etc.).
  3. Assist in preparing procurement and construction specifications and bid evaluations.
  4. Review project scope and vendor information; assist in establishing design criteria and guidelines.
  5. Coordinate with vendors as required.
  6. Identify and resolve conflicts, problems, changes, or deviations in designs and engineering.
  7. Review, monitor, and approve the technical quality of departmental work.
  8. Perform site visits as needed.
  9. Review and update departmental design standards to ensure compliance.

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, focusing on piping systems (water, sanitary, hydraulics, lubrication, gases, steam) and HVAC.
  • Experience with heavy industrial facilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Must be a registered Professional Engineer in Alabama.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Location:

This position can be based in Pittsburgh, onsite in Alabama, or remote within the US, preferably in the EST time zone.
