Remote Mechanical Engineer – Aerospace Tooling
Pay: $33–$37/hr DOE
Location: Remote (U.S. Only)

We are hiring on behalf of our client for a Remote Mechanical Engineer position with aerospace experience required. This is ideal for experienced engineers seeking remote contract work.

Overview

As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in designing and developing aerospace tooling and equipment. You'll work remotely to support projects involving metal and composite fabrication, CNC machining, 3D printing, and more. This role requires strong expertise in aerospace tool design and excellent CAD skills.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop aerospace tools: form tools, inspection gauges, die sets, weld fixtures, etc.
  • Create 2D/3D drawings and specs using SOLIDWORKS and Model-Based Definition
  • Revise/update tool designs and documentation as needed
  • Design locating/pinning tools for various aircraft components
  • Work with hydro forming, hot forming, laser cutting/welding, and CNC work-holding setups
  • Utilize 3D printing for prototyping and tool development
  • Design sheet metal components (approximately 5% of workload)
  • Collaborate with internal teams while working independently to meet deadlines
Ideal Candidate Has
  • Solid experience with aerospace fabrication tools and processes
  • Strong SOLIDWORKS + PDM Pro skills
  • Familiarity with sheet metal design, CNC machining, and composite materials
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and remote collaboration skills
