Job summary

Actalent in Auburn Hills, MI seeks a Mechanical Engineer to own mechanical design for aircraft structures, airframes, mounts, enclosures and payload interfaces. You will lead designs from concept through production release, ensuring manufacturability and reliability with SolidWorks and other CAD tools.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in mechanical design from concept to production release.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical architecture and detailed design of aircraft structures, airframes, mounts, and enclosures.
• Create production-ready CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• Design components for CNC machining, composites fabrication, sheet metal, and injection molding.
• Develop assembly fixtures, tooling, and test equipment.
• Plan and execute mechanical qualification, environmental and durability testing.
• Conduct root cause analyses and corrective actions for mechanical failures.
• Support prototype builds, manufacturing operations, and flight testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and establish engineering drawing and CAD standards.
