Job summary

Garmin in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 2 to develop moderately complex mechanical solutions, test and validate, and drive designs toward mass production for marine products.

You will model parts with CAD tools, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with vendors and manufacturing teams to ensure feasibility, reliability, and manufacturability of components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with GPA ≥ 3.0.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Proficient in CAD modeling and design verification.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and tooling.

Job description

Overview

We are seeking a full-timeMechanical Engineer 2at Garmin's location in Tulsa, OK. In this role, you will be responsible for developing moderately complex mechanical solutions, testing and validating, completing technology explorations and/or delivering to mass production within the marine product segment.

Essential Functions

• Complete moderately complex mechanical designs for Garmin or OEM products
• Model complex parts as an expert CAD user
• Collaborate and add value through participation in design reviews, providing comments and suggestions on mechanical engineering designs
• Mockup and test basic mechanical systems to verify compliance with design requirements
• Make estimates on tooling, part cost and design time for basic mechanical designs
• Communicate effectively with vendors that produce custom mechanical parts as required
• Specify test plans to validate moderately complex systemsPossess knowledge of injection modeling, die casting, sheet metal stamping, machining processes, etc.
• Demonstrate proficient knowledge of preferred part materials for basic part production and performance

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering AND1 year relevant experienceORan equivalent combination of education and experience
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Demonstrates knowledge of CAD software and the ability to model moderately complex parts
• Demonstrates proficient knowledge and utilization of relevant engineering tools

Desired Qualifications

• Previous work experience in design, particularly for consumer products
• Experience designing enclosures around electronics
• Mechanical systems repair or troubleshooting experience
• Experience using SolidWorks and/or OnShape CAD software
