Position Summary

Mechanical Engineer contributes to a team responsible for planning, conceptualize, and creating designs for new industrial equipment used to produce Ashworth products. Your responsibilities are to support Operations, R&D, Sales and Maintenance groups on development of new equipment, maintaining and improving existing equipment and increase capabilities for an expanding product line. You will spend your days actively engaging other team members to develop processes and equipment that meet the business needs and deadlines.

Position Qualifications
  • Create a culture of safety, increase awareness and compliance to procedures to achieve zero OSHA recordables, implement best practices and improvements regarding industrial hygiene and setting the example of using appropriate PPE as required.
  • Develop machine specifications as needed for one-off proprietary equipment; either individually or as part of cross-departmental teams; following industry regulations, guidelines, and safety standards
  • Develop functional machine/machine component designs by conducting research, applying knowledge of Ashworth products, fabrication, assembly, tooling, materials, conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators
  • Excellent drafting skills are required, experience and knowledge of GD&T to create functional drawings, assemblies and BOMs
  • Create FAT/SAT acceptance criteria confirming equipment meets specifications and quality by developing test matrix, testing finished product and process capabilities, establishing work or quality standards
  • Actively manage internal and external projects by developing schedules and budgets, resource planning, documentation, develop vendor partnerships, progress reporting, risk assessment and team leadership
  • Produce engineering documentation such as standardized work procedures, operational manuals and troubleshooting guides following document control processes
  • Maintain existing equipment by coordinating with internal maintenance department and/or outside repair services, following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, trade shows, reviewing professional publications

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Mechanical experience
  • Knowledge and experience in root cause analysis and troubleshooting
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering required
Experience
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in machine design preferred
  • Prior experience in automation preferred
  • Proficient in 3D modeling, AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD preferred
  • Familiar with document control, AutoDesk Vault experience preferred
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and data collection (Epicor preferred)
  • Knowledge of OSHA and CE compliance preferred

  • Minimal travel is typical but must be willing and able to travel 5-10% including some international travel
  • Must be available and willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays to meet commitments
  • Able to wear safety boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection when required in a industrial environment
  • Follow all safety procedures and policies

  • Plant environment with exposure to noise, oil, chemicals, dust and moving machinery/parts.
  • This position is an in-person position and the schedule is Monday thru Friday Dayshift.
