Quality Manufacturing Systems, Inc. (QMSI) in the Nashville area seeks a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer to develop industrial automation machines and control systems integrated with MES.

The role requires direct customer interaction, hands-on expertise, and the ability to plan and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Ten+ years of design and fabrication experience is essential; SolidWorks modeling is a plus.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years of experience with design and fabrication of custom machines.
• Strong background in machine structure and load analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop machines for industrial automation and integrate with manufacturing execution systems.
• Work directly with customers during project development, deployment and support.
• Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Present technical information clearly and collaborate across teams.
• Occasionally work outside normal hours to install modifications.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Develop machines for industrial automation. Control systems will be highly integrated with manufacturing execution systems.

Responsibilities include:

• Employ best practices for existing and new projects
• Able to work directly with customers during project development, deployment, and support
• Able to work in a self-directed manner to plan, manage, and accomplish multiple tasks and assignments to meet required deadlines
• Strong hands-on expertise
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Able to work in a team and understand the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and open communication
• Able to effectively present technical information and respond to questions
• Able to work outside normal working hours (including weekends) when necessary to meet schedules and/or to install modifications to online production facilities

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Requirements include:

• Ten+ years of experience—with emphasis on the design and fabrication of custom machines
• Experience with machine structure and load analysis is a plus

Strong SolidWorks Modeling Experience is a plus
