Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Tempe, AZ to tackle complex building systems challenges and deliver innovative solutions.

You will oversee schedule and technical quality while gaining familiarity with client expectations, scope, and budget, and provide on-site startup support. The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years in building systems design (HVAC, water, plumbing).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 2 years of practical application of mechanical engineering design in building systems (HVAC, chilled and heating water, plumbing).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams from preliminary design through site construction.
  • Ability to work onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks.
  • Provide on-site assistance during startup and coordinate work with staff and discipline lead.
  • Deliver design, development, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems for building HVAC, cleanrooms, and process exhaust.

You will be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks, as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget and schedule. You’ll also provide on-site assistance during startup, coordinating work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead. Your multi-discipline, highly interactive team will successfully deliver on the design, development, application, evaluation, recommendation, and specification of engineered systems and products for building engineered systems and products for building HVAC, cleanrooms, chilled and heating water, and process exhaust.

Here’s what you’ll need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 2 years of practical application of mechanical engineering design in building systems, such as HVAC, chilled and heating water systems, plumbing, and construction
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams from preliminary design through site construction
  • Ability to work onsite
Ideally, you’ll also have:
  • Engineer in Training (EIT)
  • Working knowledge of Revit or AutoCAD software. With prior experience in Navisworks
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
  • Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base
  • Passion for buildings and construction

The base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 to $148,700.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
