Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of high-bandwidth switching hardware for hyperscale AI data centers. This role focuses on designing chassis, card assemblies, and mechanical interfaces that integrate dense electronics into advanced networking systems used for AI training and inference infrastructure. You will collaborate with PCB, electrical, thermal, and manufacturing engineering teams to translate product requirements into physical assemblies that can be manufactured, tested, and produced at scale. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical design skills and experience taking designs from CAD development through prototyping, validation, and production.

Location: San Jose, CA

Pay Rate: $78- 80/hour

Duration: 12+ Month Contract

Key Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience independently owning mechanical designs from concept through prototyping, validation, and production.
• Proficiency in 3D mechanical CAD modeling for components, assemblies, and mechanical interfaces.
• Hands-on experience designing sheet-metal parts and assemblies for electronic hardware.
• Experience creating production drawings using GD&T and performing tolerance stack-up analyses.
• Experience collaborating with electrical, PCB, manufacturing, or supplier teams to resolve design and assembly issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Creo or Siemens NX.
• Experience with semiconductor packaging, high-density ASIC/PCB integration, or high-speed electrical or optical interconnects.
• Experience designing plastic, machined, or die-cast components.
• Experience developing manufacturing fixtures and test hardware.
• Background in networking, server, high-performance computing (HPC), or data-center hardware.
• Knowledge of liquid-cooling integration, electronics thermal management, or Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
