Position Overview

Own design, integration, and early validation of new mechanical hardware for large autonomous vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, prototype, and validate mechanical systems and components for autonomous trucking platforms
  • Create detailed CAD models and engineering drawings for fabrication and assembly
  • Work hands‑on in the shop to build, modify, and test hardware
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with electrical, software, and systems engineers
  • Support integration of sensors, compute hardware, and vehicle subsystems
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement design improvements
  • Develop and execute test plans (bench and vehicle-level)
  • Manage parts sourcing, fabrication vendors, and assembly processes
  • Contribute to rapid iteration cycles and field deployments
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant industry or internship experience
  • Strong hands‑on experience with shop tools, including:
    • Manual mill and lathe
    • Laser cutter
    • Power tools (drills, grinders, etc.)
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance stack‑ups
  • Experience designing for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA)
  • Ability to build and test prototypes independently
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, ambiguous startup environment
  • Familiarity with sheet metal, machining, and rapid prototyping methods (3D printing, CNC, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on large vehicles, or autonomous vehicles
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and sensor integration
  • Experience with PLM/PDM systems
  • Familiarity with FEA or other simulation tools
  • Experience supporting field testing or deployments
  • Startup or small‑team experience
