Job summary

Qualifications

  • Experience designing sensor packages for various applications

  • Experience with plastic injection molding and automated manufacturing
  • Patent ownership demonstrates innovation
  • Experience launching sensor products at local and remote manufacturing sites
  • Strong project management with on-time, on-budget delivery
  • Ability to build relationships with colleagues
  • Six Sigma training or experience for process improvement

Responsibilities

  • Provide innovative sensor solutions as part of NPI and CPO programs
  • Product development from inquiry to production
  • Design validation and DFMEA/ PFMEA
  • Documentation including CAD models, drawings, BOMs
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams globally
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (REACH, ROHS, IMDS)
  • Deliver safe products and processes on time and within cost

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Mechanical Engineer will join a global technology team of engineers supporting the business in the sensing areas. Plan and coordinate technical engineering initiatives to make sure they can complete a project within budget and on time. Be an integral member of a dynamic team that delivers innovative solutions to our customers.

LOCATION
WHAT YOU WILL DO

Provide innovative sensor solutions as part of New Product Introductions (NPI) and Custom Product Opportunities (CPO):

  • Product development - from inquiry to order and from order to production
  • Concept, Design and Production validation
  • Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  • Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  • Product documentation - CAD models, drawings, bill of materials
  • Technical Regulations & Standards - REACH, ROHS and IMDS
  • Quality - problem solving process, root cause analysis
  • Timeliness- deliver expected results on time
  • Cost - deliver cost effective solutions, execute cost out activities on existing product
  • Safety - deliver safe products and processes while working in safe manner
  • Benchmarking - competitive product analysis
  • Collaboration with local and global manufacturing teams

Partnering with customers to expedite idea-to-sample-to-specification position

Challenge the status quo for improved processes and improved product cost position

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years Mechanical Engineering experience post degree
  • Successful experiences with designing packages for new sensors for various applications.
  • Successful project management experience – demonstrated with successful examples of managing schedule, budget and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Experience designing and developing sensor products customer applications.
  • Innovative mindset – demonstrated by being owner of multiple patents.
  • Experience with successful introduction of new products and processes into local and remote manufacturing locations.
  • Experience with successful development and launch of sensor products within the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.
  • Successful utilization of plastic injection molding and automated manufacturing processes in sensor designs.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project tasks on time and on budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with co-workers.
  • Six Sigma training or experience in applying the principles to process improvement and/or product development.
