Job summary

Universal Resources, Inc. seeks an Engineer I to apply engineering processes and design criteria to power-related systems. You will support design options, cost estimates, and construction packages while guiding contractors and maintaining QA during design and construction.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 0–5 years of related experience, with CAD work for mechanical P&IDs experience preferred. A safe work environment and cross-department collaboration are emphasized.

Job description

Apply engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power related systems. Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications. Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages. Job responsibilities include creating a safe work environment by putting safety first, understand the process used for planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance, understanding the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance, understanding design practices and work processes, using all software applications used in design, understanding industry and design standards, supporting design standard and criteria development for the system, supporting construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations, estimating material for projects, transmitting construction packages and supporting specifications.

Requirements

The Engineer 1 position requires 0-5 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree

Expertise required for this position include introductory engineering knowledge, basic problem-solving skills, limited discretion making independent decisions based on procedure and review with supervisor, basic discipline software knowledge, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors. Must have experience with doing CAD work for mechanical P&IDs.
