Job summary

Verdantas is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead design projects for industrial and manufacturing facilities in a hybrid role based in PA. You will drive mechanical design from concept to construction, develop specifications, oversee bidding, and conduct construction administration with a focus on QA/QC and technical excellence.

The ideal candidate has 6–10 years of building systems design, a PE license, and proficiency in HVAC, piping, and 3D modeling tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; PE license preferred.
• 6–10 years of mechanical design experience in building systems.
• PE license is required.
• Proficiency in HVAC systems, pumps, piping, valves and controls.
• Experience with load calculations and energy modeling software.
• Knowledge of Navisworks, AutoCAD/Revit, and 3D scanning tools.
• LEED AP or sustainability credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design projects from concept through construction.
• Develop specifications, contract documents, and oversee bidding.
• Provide construction administration, including shop drawings and field inspections.
• Ensure QA/QC and maintain project standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster technical excellence.
• Perform mechanical design for large HVAC, plumbing, and process systems.
• Coordinate designs using 3D modeling tools (Revit/Navisworks).
• Prepare drawings, PFDs, P&IDs, and control diagrams.
• Conduct site visits and collaborate with project managers.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead mechanical design projects from concept through construction
• Develop technical specifications, contract documents, and oversee bidding processes
• Provide construction administration, including shop drawing reviews, field inspections, and providing answers to contractor RFI’s
• Ensure QA/QC compliance and maintain project standards
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and growth
• Perform mechanical design for large HVAC, plumbing, and process systems
• Coordinate designs using 3D modeling tools, i.e., Revit or Navisworks
• Prepare engineering drawings, PFDs, P&IDs, and control diagrams
• Conduct site visits to assess conditions and client needs
• Collaborate with project managers and technical leaders to deliver high-quality solutions
• Ability to write a sequence of operations for mechanical designs.
• Participate in proposal writing and fee development for major projects
• Represent Verdantas at client meetings and industry events to strengthen relationships

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• 6-10 years of mechanical design experience in building systems
• PE license
• Proficiency in HVAC systems, pumps, piping, valves, and controls
• Experience with load calculation and energy modeling software
• HAP HVAC modeling is preferred
• Familiarity with Navisworks, Point Cloud, AutoCAD/Revit, and 3D scanning tools
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Experience with managing projects (single or multi-disciplinary) is a plus
• Passion for mentorship and commitment to technical excellence
• Knowledge of construction codes, means, and methods
• LEED AP or other sustainability credentials preferred

Salary Range:

At Verdantas, we offer comprehensive benefits packages for our employees. Actual salary is based on the circumstances of each position and candidate, such as geographic location, skills, and certifications. We recognize and reward exceptional performance and strive to ensure fair compensation across all roles and departments within the company. The minimum salary for this position is $110,000 (negotiable based on the criteria presented above).
