Mechanical Engineer – Clean Energy Technology
About the Role
A leading innovator in advanced fuel cell systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team. This position plays a critical role in the design, development, and production of next-generation clean energy products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and model mechanical components and assemblies for fuel cell systems using SolidWorks.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications to support manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to optimize designs for high-quality, cost-effective production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and materials scientists to integrate mechanical designs into complete systems.
- Perform tolerance stack-ups, structural and thermal analyses, and prototype validation testing.
- Support product lifecycle activities, including design iterations, documentation updates, and design change control.
- Assist in vendor selection and engagement to ensure components meet design and quality requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, including complex assemblies, configurations, and simulation tools.
- Demonstrated experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and design optimization for production.
- Working knowledge of materials selection, manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, plastics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing systems for energy, fuel cell, or related clean technology applications. The team are super open to individuals with transferable skillsets including from industries such as robotics, medical devices and power generation.
- Familiarity with thermal management and fluid flow considerations in electrochemical systems.
- Exposure to rapid prototyping and iterative development cycles.
