Wieland is hiring a Mechanical Engineer. The mechanical engineer will develop, design new equipment, troubleshoot and enhance existing machinery, maintain drawings and documentation, and serve as the subject matter expert of Site Technology for assigned shop floor areas, working closely with the Production and Maintenance teams.

This role is located in Pine Hall, NC and will be fully on-site.

Responsibilities

• Supports Maintenance personnel with engineering and technical knowledge to assist in troubleshooting, repairs, and training.
• Conducts new equipment feasibility analysis.
• Uses AutoCAD, Siemens NX (or a similar 3D program) to develop concepts and designs for machine improvements.
• Communicates orally and in writing with personnel at all levels regarding technical details of new and existing machines, including analyses of machines, assemblies, and component drawings that conform to drawing standards.
• Inspects and acts on supplier‑delivered materials/equipment that are out of specification.
• Is instrumental in cost avoidance and cost reduction activities.
• Assists maintenance in providing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
• On‑call status required during emergencies or adverse conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or an Associate’s degree from a technical school with three years of related experience and/or training.

• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
