Job summary

Wieland - Creating Value for Generations! is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for its Pine Hall, NC site, on-site role.

You will develop, design new equipment, troubleshoot existing machinery, and maintain drawings and documentation with Production and Maintenance teams as SMEs for Site Technology. Responsibilities include supporting maintenance with engineering knowledge, performing feasibility analyses, using AutoCAD/Siemens NX for designs, and communicating technical details across levels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of mechanical engineering and/or maintenance experience.
  • Experience in mechanical design and development.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Siemens NX or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Supports Maintenance personnel with engineering knowledge to aid troubleshooting, repairs and training.
  • Perform New Equipment Feasibility Analysis.
  • Use AutoCAD/Siemens NX (3D) to develop concepts and designs for machine improvements.
  • Communicate technical details of new and existing machines with staff at all levels.
  • Inspect and act on supplier-delivered materials/equipment out of specification.
  • Contribute to cost avoidance and cost reduction activities.
  • Assist maintenance by providing engineering information as requested.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge via workshops and publications.
  • On-call status required during emergencies or adverse conditions.

Wieland is hiring a Mechanical Engineer. The mechanical engineer will be responsible for developing, designing new equipment and troubleshooting, enhancing existing machinery, maintaining drawings and documentation. The Mechanical Engineer working side by side with the Production and Maintenance team will be the subject matter expert of Site Technology for assigned shop floor areas.

Location: Pine Hall, NC and will be fully on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Uses AutoCAD/Siemens NX (3D program) or similar to develop concepts and designs for development of machine improvements.
  • Communicates orally and in writing with personnel at all levels regarding the technical details of new and existing machines.
  • Inspects and acts on supplier-delivered materials/equipment that are out of specification.
  • Is instrumental in cost avoidance and cost reduction activities.
  • Assists maintenance in providing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
  • On-call status required when needed during times of emergencies or adverse conditions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or Associate's degree from a technical school with three years of related experience and/or training.
  • At least 5 years in Mechanical Engineering and/or Maintenance department.
  • Experience in mechanical design and development.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment – strong ability to multitask complex projects efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, ability to work collaboratively, energetic and goal‑oriented.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Siemens NX (3D Software) or similar.
