Overview




SSOE is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer for our Food and Consumer Products (FCP) business unit. An ideal candidate will be a self-starter with clear and concise communication skills and knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) design and an emphasis in HVAC and Utilities.

Responsibilities




A Typical Day Might Include:

The following duties are typical of the position but are not all encompassing. Responsibilities include those required to deliver quality service on schedule and within budget in a team environment.

    Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard accepted methods for projects related to food and beverage industry clients.
  • Performs most assignments with instructions as to general results expected, exercises sound judgment to resolve problems, but may receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and solicits the approval of the department manager or project engineer for proposed design solutions.
  • Performs detailed phases of engineering work on major projects or total engineering work on projects of smaller or moderate scope.
  • Analyzes mechanical, utility and HVAC systems, and provides solutions to efficiency, production and other issues.
  • Works with the client and internal resources to develop project scopes schedules and budgets.
  • Develops engineering and capital cost estimates.
  • May devise new approaches and solutions to problems encountered and communicates changes to the team.
  • May supervise and coordinate the work of less experienced engineers and designers and be responsible for checking a portion or all of the drawings completed on the project within the discipline.
  • May take part in client contact and business development activities.
  • Meets with client to define project scope, present project progress, and assure client satisfaction.
  • Develops engineering concepts and presentations.
  • Coordinates work with other disciplines.
  • Keeps current on new design methods and ideas.
  • Travel required.
  • Valid driver's license required. May be waived for international assignments.





Qualifications




Qualifications You'll Need on Day One:

    • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.
    • PE or PE-tracked preferred, five (5) or more years of related practical experience with former employer(s) required.
    • Experience with design of HVAC and mechanical utility systems, as well as working in sanitary production environments.
    • Prior consulting experience in the food industry, and experience in sanitary design highly desired.
    • Proficient in MS Office and familiarity with AutoCAD or other CAD programs.
    • Strong communications, facilitation, and team leadership skills.
    • Salary Range: $90,000 to $120,000 a year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
