Job summary

TYLin Group is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in New York City to lead HVAC and tunnel ventilation design for transit infrastructure projects. You will develop contract drawings, specifications, and technical reports for complex facilities and ensure code compliance.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license in NY (or eligibility) with 5–10 years of mechanical design experience in rail or urban building systems and strong collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required; master’s a plus.
• PE license in NY or eligible for reciprocity is required.
• 5–10 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in rail/transit.
• Expertise in HVAC and tunnel ventilation system design.
• Knowledge of NFPA, ASHRAE, NYC codes and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of transit stations, tunnels, and maintenance facilities focusing on HVAC and tunnel ventilation.
• Develop contract drawings, specifications, and technical reports for project deliverables.
• Perform calculations and modeling to optimize performance, safety, and sustainability.
• Ensure designs comply with NFPA, ASHRAE, and NYC codes.
• Collaborate with architects, structural and electrical engineers to deliver integrated designs.
• Participate in design reviews, QA/QC processes, and provide technical guidance.
