Job summary

SpecSys Inc. in rural Midwest seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design mobile equipment, including structural, fluid power, and powertrain systems.

You will perform CAD design, analyses (FEA), BOM creation, and user manuals, collaborating with engineering disciplines, manufacturing, and project managers to ensure on-time, on-budget, and safe project execution. The ideal candidate has a BS/MS in engineering and 1+ year of project experience, with mobile equipment, FEA or hydraulics, and structural

• 1+ years of proven project experience.
• Mobility equipment experience and strong mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical aspects of mobile equipment, including structural, fluid power, and powertrain systems.
• Perform CAD design work and BOMs.
• Conduct FEA analyses and prepare reports.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and project managers to meet on-time, on-budget goals.
• Review drawings for manufacturability and client standards.
• Prepare operator and user manuals.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will complete mechanical design work for mobile equipment that includes structural, fluid power, and powertrain systems, including performing component selection; CAD design work; analysis, including FEA; detailed bills of material (BOMs); and Operator and User Manuals. You will collaborate with other SpecSys engineering disciplines and manufacturing along with project managers to ensure the On Time - On Budget - Done Right - Done Safely aspects of the project assigned.

What does the Mechanical Engineer do for SpecSys?

• Overall project responsibility including:
  • Verify the design meets performance and configuration specifications
  • Contract management to verify the project is completed on time and on budget
  • Customer management to understand expectations and standards
• Providing work instructions for designers and drafters
• Coordinating resources of project teams
• Developing and updating project timelines
• Developing design concepts to perform project function and facilitate reviews.
• Developing scope of work projections
• Performing engineering calculations to verify compliance with design requirements
• Providing technical data to the client, designers, and drafters
• Overseeing and/or performing FEA analysis to verify structural integrity
• Direct preparation of FEA reports for the customer
• Preparing project review booklets and present to the customer
• Specifying and sourcing purchase components to be used
• Specifying materials to be used in design
• Working on multiple CAD packages
• Reviewing CAD models for completeness, interferences, and manufacturability
• Reviewing detail drawings for completeness, accuracy, and client standards
• Reviewing and update model and drawing tolerances
• Generating and reviewingBill of Materials for completeness
• Updating and tracking action / issue items

How would we define a good candidate? Someone who:

• Has Strong mechanical aptitude
• Mobile equipment experience required
• Has FEA experience and/or hydraulics experience
• Has Structural analysis experience
• Has the ability to interact at a management level with Manufacturing Operations, Sales, Clients, and Quality
• Has a BS or MS Degree in agriculture, mechanical, electrical or aerospace engineering disciplines
• Has 1+ years of proven project experience
• Or has any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance
