Job summary

SpecSys Inc. in Minnesota is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design mobile equipment, perform CAD work, and run analyses including FEA to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, project managers and other engineers, develop BOMs, and produce operator manuals and documentation for customers. A BS/MS in engineering is required, and experience with multiple CAD packages is valued.

• BS or MS in mechanical engineering (or related engineering).
• 1+ years of project experience.
• Ability to interact with Mfg Operations, Sales, Clients and Quality at management level.

• Verify design meets performance and configuration specifications.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $100,000 IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE EXPERIENCE!

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will complete mechanical design work for mobile equipment that includes structural, fluid power, and powertrain systems, including performing component selection; CAD design work; analysis, including FEA; detailed bills of material (BOMs); and Operator and User Manuals. You will collaborate with other SpecSys engineering disciplines and manufacturing along with project managers to ensure the On Time - On Budget - Done Right - Done Safely aspects of the project assigned.

What does the Mechanical Engineer do for SpecSys?

• Overall project responsibility including:
  • Verify the design meets performance and configuration specifications
  • Contract management to verify the project is completed on time and on budget
  • Customer management to understand expectations and standards
• Providing work instructions for designers and drafters
• Coordinating resources of project teams
• Developing and updating project timelines
• Developing design concepts to perform project function and facilitate reviews.
• Developing scope of work projections
• Performing engineering calculations to verify compliance with design requirements
• Providing technical data to the client, designers, and drafters
• Overseeing and/or performing FEA analysis to verify structural integrity
• Direct preparation of FEA reports for the customer
• Preparing project review booklets and present to the customer
• Specifying and sourcing purchase components to be used
• Specifying materials to be used in design
• Working on multiple CAD packages
• Reviewing CAD models for completeness, interferences, and manufacturability
• Reviewing detail drawings for completeness, accuracy, and client standards
• Reviewing and update model and drawing tolerances
• Generating and reviewing Bill of Materials for completeness
• Updating and tracking action / issue items

How would we define a good candidate? Someone who:

• Has Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Has the ability to interact at a management level with Mfg Operations, Sales, Clients, and Quality
• Has a BS or MS Degree in agriculture, mechanical, electrical or aerospace engineering disciplines
• Has 1+ years of proven project experience
• Or has any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance
