Job summary

Ohio Magnetics, Inc. in Maple Heights, OH is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, test, and release drawings for material handling and magnetic separation equipment, including electro-magnets and permanent magnets.

You will apply engineering principles to improve performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost. This role supports semi-custom product development, collaborating with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, project-based industrial products, mechanical design, or related engineering environment preferred.
  • Experience with material handling equipment, magnetic devices, welded components, sheet metal fabrication, conveyance systems, magnets, solenoids, or separation equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, detail, and release mechanical components, equipment, machinery, and finished component drawings for material handling and magnetic separation products.
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles, tools, and best practices to improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, quality, and cost.
  • Utilize tools provided to learn and create magnets with a superior outcome.
  • Lead or support product development projects for semi-custom magnetic equipment, including coordination with customers, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, and other internal departments.
  • Design and support equipment involving electro-magnets, permanent magnets, separation systems, magnetic devices, electrical drives, welded components, sheet metal fabrication, and related mechanical assemblies.
  • Inspect field applications, perform testing, and supervise or support installation, troubleshooting, repair, or modification of equipment as needed.
  • Prepare, maintain, and update engineering documentation, design logs, drawings, specifications, and related records in accordance with company standards.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, field associates, co-workers, and management to support technically sound, innovative, and practical product solutions.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Knowledge of Power BI and D365 is a plus.

  • Fundamental knowledge of mechanics, mechanical systems, electrical principles, magnet or solenoid design, and conveyance systems preferred.
