A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and at least three years of experience are required. SD PE license is preferred; strong communication, scheduling, and cost estimation skills are valued, with
Design and support mechanical and industrial systems for surface and underground facilities, research programs, and operations, including coordinating equipment fabrication, installation, integration, and maintenance. Manage or contribute to engineering projects, vendor and consultant services, safety and hazard controls, cost estimates, schedules, and—when assigned—the crane and rigging inspection and certification program.
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field and at least three years of experience in mechanical engineering or a related field are required. A South Dakota PE license or commitment to obtain one is preferred; relevant systems experience, engineering software proficiency, sound judgment, and strong communication skills are expected, with program management and maintenance planning experience desired or preferred.
