Job Details
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical Engineering & Operational Support
- Serve as a primary engineering resource for mechanical equipment, systems, and manufacturing processes.
- Partner with production, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to achieve safety, quality, and productivity objectives.
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and operational issues to minimize downtime and improve performance.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions to eliminate recurring problems.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, process efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
- Support reliability-centered maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Evaluate and recommend equipment upgrades, replacements, and modernization opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal and external technical resources to implement best practices and innovative solutions.
Capital Projects & Process Improvements
- Lead mechanical equipment and facility improvement projects from concept through startup and commissioning.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, installation, contractor activities, and project execution.
- Manage project timelines, spending, and deliverables to ensure successful completion.
- Support outage planning and coordinate resources required for project implementation.
- Lead cross-functional teams consisting of operations, maintenance, contractors, and engineering personnel.
Strategic Planning & Capital Development
- Support development of annual capital and major maintenance plans.
- Identify opportunities for equipment replacement, capacity expansion, reliability improvements, and facility upgrades.
- Develop project justifications, cost estimates, and projected business benefits.
- Obtain vendor quotations and evaluate equipment solutions.
- Prepare project documentation and recommendations for capital approval.
- Support long-term operational and growth initiatives through strategic engineering investments.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 2-12+ years of engineering experience within manufacturing, industrial, heavy industrial, metals, or process-driven environments.
- 1-10 years of project engineering and/or project management experience.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements.
Preferred
- Experience supporting manufacturing equipment and mechanical systems in an industrial setting.
- Hands-on experience working alongside production and maintenance teams.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, process management systems, and root cause analysis tools.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to support occasional off-shift work during outages, installations, and critical equipment events.
