Job summary

Trident Maritime Systems-Heavy Equipment Group seeks a Mechanical Engineer to interpret customer specifications, develop designs within budget, and coordinate design efforts. You will prepare 3D models, perform calculations, and produce detailed drawings for marine filtration systems.

Short-notice travel may be required, with hands-on production floor support to ensure build quality. The role emphasizes collaboration with customers, sales, management, and plant personnel to meet project goals

Qualifications

• 3 years mechanical or hydraulic design experience.
• Experience with industrial or marine filtration systems preferred.
• Willingness to travel on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Interpret customer purchase specifications and ensure compliance.
• Develop design concepts and product specifications within budget.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Mechanical Engineer

PLANT/DEPARTMENT: Defense Engineering Directed By: Engineering Manager

IMPORTANT WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Customers, Sales & Program Management, Plant Personnel, Vendor Representatives, Supply Chain

DIRECTS: None

MAJOR DUTIES:

• 1. Responsible for interpretation of and compliance with customer purchase specifications.
• 2. Develop design or design concept and product specifications within cost and budget goals.
• 3. Coordinate designer and design engineers' efforts, based on budget and schedule, when assigned.
• 4. Make or supervise preparation of 3D models.
• 5. Perform calculations.
• 6. Prepare detail and assembly drawings when drafting assistance is unavailable.
• 7. Confer with engineering management on problems encountered and questions arising on project.
• 8. Develop requirements for and specify purchased components.
• 9. Communicate with other Trident HEG operations on project requirements.
• 10. Prepare proposals with estimated engineering effort from customer specifications.
• 11. Participate in design reviews and other assigned activities.
• 12. Direct checking of all drawings prepared for use on project.
• 13. Hands on support of production floor.
• 14. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION PREFERRED/SPECIAL NOTES:

• B.S.M.E. Preferred

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED/SPECIAL NOTES:

• 3 years mechanical or hydraulic design of powered equipment
• Experience with industrial or marine filtration systems preferred but not required.
• Short notice travel may be required.
• Ability to help troubleshoot basic electrical issues and basic automation tasks preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Job often requires long hours of sitting/computer usage.
• Job will require some time on the production floor supporting manufacturing, assembly and testing of custom marine filtration systems.
