Job description

We’re working with a well‑funded robotics company in the surgical space that is building a next-generation robotic platform focused on precision and reliability. This is a hands‑on, design‑heavy role and a key hire as the team develops a brand‑new robot.

They’re hiring at the Mechanical Engineer II or III level, depending on experience.

The Role

You’ll be a core contributor to the mechanical design of motor‑driven robotic systems. This role is heavily focused on design and development, not sustaining or maintenance work. You’ll work closely with a small, experienced engineering team and will be expected to operate with a high level of ownership, especially at the ME III level.

What They’re Looking For

Hands‑on work with components such as:

  • Ball screws
  • Drive systems or drivetrains
  • Motors, motor drivers, encoders, and sensors

Strong mechanical fundamentals:

  • GD&T
  • Tolerance and stack‑up analysis
  • Detailed 2D drawings
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks preferred, but other CAD tools are fine)
  • Ability to work independently without heavy oversight
Nice to Have
  • Medical device or regulated product experience
  • Exposure to design controls or engineering documentation
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Medical device experience is helpful but not required. The team is open to training the right engineer if the robotics and mechanical fundamentals are strong.

Requirements
  • Typically targeting 1–5 years of experience
  • Candidates with ~1-2 years will be considered if they have strong hands‑on robotic design experience
  • Mechanical Engineering degree preferred but not mandatory
  • Must be based in Texas already and willing to relocate or commute to Houston Location.
  • 5 days onsite in Houston
Why This Role
  • Work on a brand‑new robotic system from the ground up
  • High ownership and real technical impact
  • Stable, permanent role with strong leadership and funding
  • Clear interview process and fast feedback
