Overview
This position is based at EW Brown Generating Station and involves providing mechanical engineering support for boilers, pressure vessels, and power piping. Responsibilities include developing plans, assessments, and specifications to maintain equipment in compliance with industry standards and regulations. The role requires professional judgment and can be filled at levels Engineer I, II, III, or Principal.

Responsibilities

  1. Identify opportunities to improve plant equipment availability and reliability.
  2. Manage daily mechanical engineering tasks and project timelines and budgets.
  3. Oversee capital and O&M projects, providing updates to management.
  4. Evaluate inspection reports and operational data to support plant KPI development, budgeting, and projects.
  5. Document maintenance, inspections, and repairs related to boiler, pressure vessel, and piping activities.
  6. Engage in engineering tasks related to design, performance, operation, and maintenance of plant equipment.
  7. Lead and mentor peers, operators, and technicians.
  8. Serve as the plant’s Certified Weld Inspector, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
  9. Support troubleshooting and resolution of engineering issues.
  10. Assist in large or complex projects as needed.
  11. Maintain safety and environmental standards.
  12. Review assignments for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education: ABET-accredited Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications: Practical application of engineering training in power plant settings, proficient communication skills, experience with boiler maintenance and repair, AWS Certified Weld Inspector Certification, experience with ERP systems like Maximo.

Additional Details: Mid-Senior level, full-time position in the Utilities industry, focused on Engineering and IT.
