Job description

Sorian Aerospace is building autonomous supersonic aircraft for advanced training and test. Sandman is an unmanned supersonic trainer. Unforgiven is a fighter-class advanced trainer designed for piloted and unmanned operation. Both aircraft share a common foundation across autonomy, avionics, flight controls, and aircraft systems.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll design, build, and test the mechanisms, installations, and mechanical flight hardware that connect those systems into a working aircraft. Your scope may include actuators, linkages, hinges, latches, equipment mounts, propulsion and avionics installations, landing systems, and ground-support hardware.

This is a high-ownership, hands-on role for someone who can take hardware from a blank CAD window through drawings, manufacturing, assembly, and test.

Responsibilities
  • Design mechanisms, brackets, mounts, assemblies, and mechanical aircraft systems
  • Size components using first-principles analysis, hand calculations, and appropriate simulation
  • Select materials, fasteners, bearings, actuators, and manufacturing processes

  • Work closely with structures, propulsion, avionics, controls, and manufacturing to manage interfaces
  • Support suppliers, fabrication, assembly, inspection, test, troubleshooting, and design iteration
  • Own hardware through qualification and aircraft integration

  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required
Results
  • Deliver lightweight, reliable mechanical hardware that integrates cleanly the first time
  • Close the loop quickly between design, fabrication, test, and redesign
  • Create clear, traceable engineering work that scales across aircraft programs
