Job summary

Randstad USA in Columbus, Ohio seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design systems for substations and transmission projects on a contract basis. You will lead multi-project initiatives from inception to closeout, driving technical excellence and client satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience with mechanical design and energy. Compensation is $50–$61 per hour, with work hours from 8am to 4pm and full support from Randstad.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience required.
• Experience leading engineering projects (substations, transmission lines) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead team to execute substation, transmission line, and telecom projects from inception to closeout.
• Oversee 5-20 projects concurrently with sizes ranging from $100k to $50M and voltages from 4kV to 765kV.
• Manage projects for schedule adherence and present to senior/executive management as needed.
• Maintain accurate cost forecasts and ensure financial adherence across projects.
• Provide regular status updates and reports to clients and stakeholders.
• Lead project meetings with cost, schedule, real estate, environmental, construction and engineering resources.

responsibilities:

• Lead team to execute substation, transmission line, and telecommunication projects from inception to closeout.
• Oversee 5-20 projects concurrently of varying sizes ($100k-$50M ) and voltages (4kV-765kV).
• Manage projects for schedule adherence identifying risks, navigating projects through approval processes including presentations to senior and executive management as required.
• Manage projects for financial adherence maintaining an accurate cost forecast reflecting committed and uncommitted costs for an estimate-at-completion.
• Provide regular status updates on projects by maintaining project data and routine reporting as well as meeting updates for clients.
• Lead project meetings with cost, schedule, real estate, environmental, construction and engineering resources to facilitate project execution.
