Job summary

Design Engineers in Cedar Rapids, IA and Madison, WI seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design building HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. You will lead mechanical design, perform sizing calculations, and coordinate with clients and interdisciplinary teams.

The role requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years of building systems experience, with in-person work at multiple site locations. This is a full-time, in-person opportunity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as mechanical engineer in building system design.

Responsibilities

• Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues.
• Lead mechanical systems design including fire suppression, plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Perform calculations for HVAC loads, duct sizing, pipe sizing, and ventilation requirements.
• Provide direction to designers and BIM technicians for drawings detailing the design.
• Coordinate work with clients and design team members of other disciplines.
• Create/prepare reports.

Position Type: In-Person/ Full-Time

Position: Mechanical Engineer position involved with the investigation, design, and construction of building heating, ventilating, air-conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and fire protection systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Attend meetings and communicate with clients to establish their needs and discuss design issues with them.
• Lead mechanical systems design including fire suppression, plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Perform and/or direct calculations for HVAC loads, duct sizing, pipe sizing, ventilation requirements, etc.
• Provide direction to designers and BIM technicians for preparation of drawings detailing the design.
• Coordinate work with Clients and design team members of other disciplines.
• Create/prepare reports.
