Job DetailsJob Location: Ashtabula, OH 44004SUMMARY

The Mechanical Engineer will provide support to engineering projects for expansions and improvements across a wide variety of areas, including pipe forming equipment, utility equipment and system, resin conveying equipment, quality testing equipment, etc. There will be involvement with plant personnel and equipment supplier to design the equipment specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Specify, evaluate, and purchase industrial equipment after extrusion (PVC & PE), such as beller and hydrotester, as well as ancillary equipment in utility (chillers, air compressors, etc.).
  • Design chill water piping system and pneumatic conveying systems for manufacturing plants.
  • Manage suppliers and equipment performance and quality. Coordinate with vendors, HQ personnel, plant personnel to ensure the quality, logistics, and start-up of equipment is satisfactory for the continuous success of plant operations and improvements.
  • Create, evaluate, and compare specifications and quotations from suppliers of equipment used in the plastic manufacturing process.
  • Prepare purchasing related documentations and directly involve in price negotiation, process approval, payment submission and tracking, etc. for equipment.
  • Use project management skills to manage project from initiation phase through completion which includes proposal review, project scheduling and execution, supplier follow ups, and logistics activities.
  • Design using AutoCAD for equipment and piping layout. Solidworks experience is a plus for conceptual validation, but not required.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

This position has no immediate supervisory responsibilities. May provide leadership for designated projects

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field AND minimum of 5 years of related experience OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must be proficient with AUTOCAD, MS Office and Microsoft Project.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret design drawings. Ability to read and interpret design drawings. Able to write technical reports, identify trends and develop action plans to address issues.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form. Ability to identify trends and develop action plans to address issues.
