Job summary

Ahlstrom’s Thilmany facility in Kaukauna, WI is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern or Co‑Op for 2027. You will work on real projects to improve equipment reliability, safety, and process efficiency under the guidance of experienced engineers.

The position offers $27.00 per hour and a housing stipend for qualifying relocations to Kaukauna. Applicants must be enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering program (sophomore preferred) and able to work on site.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering degree program.
• Sophomore standing preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Comfortable working on a production floor in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Follow manufacturing and hygiene processes to meet safety and quality standards.
• Support engineering and maintenance with reliability initiatives.
• Assist design, development, and implementation of equipment modifications and process improvements.
• Participate in troubleshooting to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
• Create and update engineering drawings and documentation.
• Assist with planning and execution of capital and maintenance projects.
• Collect and analyze equipment performance data.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, safety, and production teams on project activities.
• Support equipment installation, commissioning, and startup.
