Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full-time Mechanical Elevator Support Technician in Norfolk, VA.

Summary:

This position will work closely with Ship’s Force, Government, and contract personnel to provide mechanical technical support for the US Navy ships. Responsibilities include assessing and repairing all mechanical/hydraulic aspects of shipboard elevators, dumbwaiters, and conveyors in both shop and shipboard environments. The role supports aircraft carrier elevator maintenance at North Island Naval Air Station.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide technical support and assistance on mechanical systems and components, supporting U.S. Navy shipboard weapons elevators, cargo elevators, and dumbwaiters.
  2. Conduct research and provide drawings, technical manual information, design specifications, and engineering recommendations for condition assessments, corrective actions, and preventative measures.
  3. Assist with shipboard PMS accomplishment.
  4. Use a variety of precision measurement standards and instruments.
  5. Assist ship's force in obtaining supply and repair parts information as required.
  6. Provide technical assistance on complex machinery control system problems beyond the ship's force capabilities.
  7. Communicate directly with ship's force representatives, describing mechanical system issues and solutions.
  8. Contribute to process improvement procedures, assemble, and install equipment using hand and power tools.
  9. Perform out briefs to ship's force, officers, and management within the engineering department.
  10. Follow standard safety procedures and operating protocols.
Required Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. At least six years of experience with preventative and corrective maintenance of shipboard weapons elevators, cargo elevators, and dumbwaiters.
  3. Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams for repairs and alignments.
  4. Experience with Navy tag-out procedures, troubleshooting, and quality assurance practices.
  5. Knowledge of military terminology and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Knowledge of Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM).
  2. Experience with quality assurance.
  3. Prior Craftsman 301 qualification.
  4. OSHA 10 certification.
ADA Notations:
  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking, handling, and reaching.
  • Communication abilities (hearing and speaking).
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to access ships, barges, and naval craft in narrow passages and on ladders.
  • Work in an industrial, shop environment.
