Job summary

Ardmore Roderick is seeking a Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Quality Control (MEPQC) Construction Engineer for our Memphis International Airport field office. The role focuses on developing and executing QC plans, reviewing contract documents, and coordinating with project teams to ensure high standards of quality.

The candidate will collaborate with owners, architects, and subcontractors to uphold project requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Construction experience bridging both field and engineering responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of construction process, means and methods, and materials, their characteristics, installation procedures and tolerances.
  • Demonstrated experience with construction projects that are MEP in nature.
  • Understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule.
  • Advanced computer skills, proficient in project management software and MS Office.
  • Team player with strong written and verbal communication.
  • Good to great organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Execute project‑specific QC Plan with scopes of work and procedures coordinating with project safety plan and all staff.
  • Develop comprehensive working knowledge of contract documents.
  • Assist team with DFOW log for MEP components.
  • Chair or attend pre‑installation meetings to communicate scope to trade partners.
  • Perform material delivery inspections with Subcontractors and Supervisors for submittal compliance.
  • Chair or attend First Work In Place (WIP) Observations with project team.
  • Attend Mock‑Up review meetings.
  • Perform daily quality follow‑up inspections on‑site.
  • Arrange for third party testing and inspections; analyze and report results.
  • Perform QC review of submittals and track issues, focusing on high‑risk activities.
  • Manage documentation: RFIs, cost changes, change orders, and file control.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors and vendors to ensure QC Plan compliance.
  • Coordinate QC procedures with project schedule and execution plan.
  • Improve QC procedures and documentation continuously.
  • Manage Daily Construction Reports (DCRs) and punch lists.
  • Document non‑conforming materials and corrective actions.
  • Research Lean QC improvements for better project delivery.
  • Ensure completion of project closeout and quality reports.

Job Overview

We are seeking a new Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Quality Control (MEPQC) Construction Engineer to join our team at Ardmore Roderick. As a MEPQC Construction Engineer, you join a team of infrastructure solutions experts working to solve our client’s ever evolving project needs. This opportunity will be located in our Memphis International Airport field office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute project‑specific Quality Control (QC) Plan with scopes of work and work procedures in coordination with project safety plan and in a manner that engages all project staff, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants and ensures achievement of contract requirements
  • Develop comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of contract documents
  • Assist project team with development of Definable Features of Work (DFOW) log in MEP centric pieces of the overall project
  • Chair or attend pre‑installation meeting to communicate scope expectations to trade partners
  • Perform material delivery inspections in collaboration with Project Superintendent and Trade Foreman to confirm compliance with approved submittals
  • Chair or attend First Work In Place (WIP) Observation with project team
  • Attend Mock‑Up review meetings
  • Perform daily quality follow‑up inspections on‑site
  • Arrange for third party testing and inspections; analyze and report results
  • Perform QC review of submittals, track issues and concerns, with attention to high‑risk activities
  • Ensure execution of engineering procedures within budgetary guidelines, including document control, submissions management, creation and tracking of Request for Information (RFIs), material samples, documentation and tracking of potential cost changes and documentation and tracking of approved change orders
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors and vendors to ensure project‑specific QC Plan delivers a fully compliant project
  • Understand project execution plan and coordinate QC procedures at appropriate stages of work and in line with project schedule
  • Continually improve strategies and tools to efficiently and effectively document, track and record compliance with contract documents
  • Continually improve procedures to expand development of QC Plan as project progresses
  • Manage procedures for completion of Daily Construction Reports (DCRs) and punch lists
  • Document all non‑compliant materials and/or workmanship and document compliance after completion of corrective work prior to starting any subsequent work
  • Research and apply additional QC and lean procedures to enhance quality of project delivery
  • Ensure completion of project closeout and quality reports
Required Qualifications
