Job summary

Wayne Farms LLC in Alabama is seeking a maintenance technician to assist in maintaining and repairing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and conveying systems within its poultry processing plant. You will perform preventative maintenance using blueprints and diagrams to ensure equipment operates to specification and tolerances.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, welding or fabrication as needed, and identifying unsafe conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Pass NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 1 required.
• Minimum 1 year experience in industrial machine predictive and preventative maintenance or demonstrated applicable mechanical and electrical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Repair and perform preventative maintenance on industrial machinery using blueprint and schematic drawings.
• Identify root causes and perform repairs using welding, fabrication, or parts replacement; notify if further attention is needed.
• Identify unsafe conditions and correct or escalate.
• Maintain blueprints and operating manuals as needed.
• Comply with company policies and safety guidelines; perform all duties as assigned.

Job description

Primary Function

Primarily responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of various mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and conveying systems/types of industrial equipment for poultry processing plant. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance using blueprints and diagrams to verify that all equipment is operating within required specifications and tolerances. May perform periodic testing and inspections, troubleshooting and repairs. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

• Under general supervision, repair and perform preventative maintenance on industrial machinery (i.e. mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, conveying systems, etc) using blueprint and schematic drawings to ensure equipment is performing safely to required specifications
• Identify root cause of basic mechanical issues and performs repairs by welding, fabricating parts, basic pipefitting or replacing defective component; notify appropriate personnel if further attention is required
• Identify unsafe conditions and corrects; reports to appropriate personnel if unable to correct on own
• Assist with maintaining a file of blueprints and operating manuals and procedures as needed
• Work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations
• All other duties as assigned

Education And Certifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Pass NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 1 required

Experience And Skills

• Minimum 1 year experience in industrial machine predictive and preventative maintenance or demonstrated applicable mechanical and electrical knowledge
• Intermediate math and computer skills
• Ability to operate/use basic hand and power tools

• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours

• May be exposed to heat (99ºF, 37ºC) and cold (45ºF, 4ºC)
• Exposure to wet and dusty environment
• Frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling
• Roll and push buggies (~1,000 lbs.)
• Work around raw, live animal odors
