General Dynamics Electric Boat Corp. is seeking a Mechanical Draftsman to transform sketches and concepts into manufacturable designs. The role focuses on producing detailed drawings for manufacture, assembly, and test within a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.

The candidate will gain on-the-job experience and opportunities for continued education to advance in the design field, while contributing to complex submarine design projects.

Qualificações

• High school diploma or GED required with 2–5 years design experience.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprint drawings.
• Proficiency in CAD is required (NX preferred).
• Knowledge of GD&T and Design Standards.

Responsabilidades

• Produce design deliverables from sketches, layouts and concepts to support manufacture, assembly and test.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure design intent is maintained through production.

Mechanical Draftsman Job Description

There is presently a great need for a highly-motivated Mechanical Draftsman with the ability to produce design deliverables from design sketches, layouts and/or concepts to support manufacture, assembly and test. We are looking for a candidate with the desire to develop skills through on-the-job experience and continued education to advance in the design profession.

Required

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2-5 years of design experience
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprint drawings
• Demonstrated proficiency in drafting (portfolio) with Computer Aided Design (CAD) is required (NX preferred)

Preferred

• Vocational High School Diploma
• Two year Technical School/College
• Experience with mechanical systems
• Experience with CATIA and/or NX
• Experience in Design for Six Sigma, Lean Design/Manufacturing

Skills

• Must be willing to work in a collaborative and team environment.
• Must possess strong attention to detail and problem solving skills.
• Must possess strong computer skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft products
• Ability to perform design related math functions
• Ability to read and interpret written instructions and drawings (blueprints)
• Firm understanding of Design Standards, Manufacturing Processes and Military Specifications including GD&T
