Job summary

SSI People is seeking a Mechanical Drafter for an on-site, Austin, TX role. You will translate customer requirements into practical mechanical solutions and develop accurate documentation, detailed designs, and structured bills of materials for turnkey projects.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics with 5+ years in drafting, and is proficient in CREO, Pro/E, and SolidWorks, with strong GD&T and communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in a mechanical drafting role.
• Proficiency with CREO (3–5 years) and knowledge of 2D/3D design tools including Pro/E and SolidWorks.
• Strong GD&T, detailed drawing development and design documentation.
• Experience working with external suppliers and strong written and oral communication skills.

Job Title: Mechanical Drafter

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-driven technical professional to support custom engineering work that helps translate customer requirements into practical mechanical solutions. Our team is looking for someone who can collaborate closely with engineers and suppliers to develop accurate documentation, detailed designs, and well-structured bills of materials for complex turnkey projects.

Requirements

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in a mechanical drafting role.
• Highly proficient with 3 to 5 years of experience in CREO, with in-depth knowledge of 2D and 3D design tools including CREO, Pro/E, and SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), detailed drawing development, and design documentation.
• Successful history of working with external suppliers, plus excellent oral and written communication skills.
