Job summary

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to serve as the Mechanical Discipline Lead for large capital facility expansion projects in Atlanta, GA. You will independently manage the mechanical engineering scope across FEL-2 through detailed design, construction, and commissioning, driving standardization and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 7–10+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience leading the mechanical discipline on large capital projects.
• Deep understanding of API, ASME, ANSI codes for static equipment, rotating equipment, and piping.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Mechanical Discipline across assigned capital projects from FEL-2 through FEED, detailed design, construction and commissioning.
• Define mechanical scope and deliverables for each project phase to support cost estimates.
• Provide technical leadership to internal teams and EPC partners; review specs, datasheets, calculations, drawings, and 3D models.
• Specify static and rotating equipment and select materials of construction; ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with Nexus and EPC Project Managers to align scope, interfaces, quality, and schedule; collaborate with Process, Electrical, I&C, Piping, CSA, Construction and Commissioning teams.
• Identify mechanical risks early; develop mitigation plans and present recommendations to leadership.
• Develop and maintain standards, procedures, and templates to improve quality, consistency, and standardization.
• Ensure safety and constructability considerations in designs; participate in MOC reviews and related actions.
