Job summary

BorgWarner is seeking an Application Mechanical Development Engineer to support VCT/TD projects, product development, and new business opportunities. You will collaborate with design, prototype, validation teams and suppliers to bring mechanical components to production.

Responsibilities include leading design reviews and DFMEA/DVP&R, evaluating concepts, and ensuring parts meet customer specs and PDLP guidelines. A Mechanical Engineering degree and 0–2 years in related fields are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 0–2 years’ experience in VCT/TD or close‑tolerance devices.
• Familiar with GD&T, tolerance stacks, and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R reviews.
• Knowledge of TS‑16949 quality systems.
• Proficient with MS Office and data analysis tools.
• Understanding of simulation/FEA tools.
• Strong verbal and technical writing communication.

Responsibilities

• Create or review performance specifications and targets.
• Lead designs to meet customer specs and packaging constraints.
• Proof of concept evaluation and technical assessment of design refinements.
• Recommend application specific design changes that meet customer’s technical requirements.
• Lead or support DFMEA and DVP&R reviews with customers or validation teams.
• Support analysis of prototype parts for functional performance and failure modes.
• Lead or support technical meetings with customers and teams within DMS.
• Release design for PDLP and program phases.
• Identify concepts addressing weaknesses in current portfolio or technology roadmap.
• Collaborate with Plant Product Engineering for quality and cost improvements.
