Job summary

City Building Engineering Services (CBES) is seeking a Refrigeration Designer to support the design and development of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. You will prepare layouts, piping drawings, equipment selections, and construction documents for supermarket, cold storage, and commercial projects.

Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field teams to deliver cost-effective refrigeration solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of mechanical drafting/design experience in the AEC industry, refrigeration strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit required.
• Experience preparing HVAC and refrigeration construction documents.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and refrigeration schematics.

Responsibilities

• Develop refrigeration piping and equipment layouts using AutoCAD.
• Prepare construction drawings, as-built drawings, and design documents.
• Assist with refrigeration equipment selection and system configuration.
• Perform basic refrigeration load calculations and pipe sizing.
• Coordinate designs with electrical, HVAC, architectural, and construction teams.
• Review equipment submittals and manufacturer specifications.
• Support field installation teams with design clarifications and revisions.
• Maintain drawing standards and document control procedures.
• Participate in project meetings and design reviews.

Candidate needs to be able to commute to Burlington, MA 4x a week.POSITION SUMMARYThe Refrigeration Designer supports the design and development of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems. This role is responsible for preparing system layouts, piping drawings, equipment selections, and construction documents for supermarket, cold storage, and commercial refrigeration projects.
