Henny Penny in Michigan is seeking a Mechanical Designer II to drive day-to-day engineering tasks, from BOM maintenance to production support. You will generate 3-D models, create wiring diagrams, and partner with engineers to transition designs into manufacturing, while pursuing continuous improvement and maintaining design intent.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in engineering or related field preferred.
• Minimum 3+ years of design experience.
• CAD certification preferred.

The Mechanical Designer II position is responsible for day-to-day engineering activities from design-related tasks, design support roles, new product development support, manufacturing support, packaging support, and label support. This role requires an individual well versed in design, engineering change management, BOM maintenance, drawing maintenance, packaging design, and label creation. This role also requires someone who understands Bill of Materials (BOM) creation, BOM structure and well versed in transitioning products to production.

What You'll Be Doing

• Construct and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs).
• Provide accurate designer output timing.
• Provide Prototype and Pre-Production support.
• Source and order purchased components.
• Provide support to the Manufacturing team for sustaining equipment.
• Generate 3-D Models using input from engineers.
• Work closely with engineers.
• Create Design Intent models.
• Create Electrical Wire Diagrams and Wiring.
• Design and print labels.
• Consistently models the Company Values and Expected Behaviors.
• Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

• Associate degree in Engineering related field preferred, or equivalent experience
• 3+ Years' design experience
• CAD certification preferred
• Intermediate knowledge of 3D CAD software & ERP System
• Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
• Basic MS office, presentation, or PowerPoint skills
• Basic modeling, sheet metal, machining, and casting knowledge
• Detailed oriented and strong creativity skills
• Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and root cause analysis
• Intermediate knowledge of GD&T
• Basic knowledge of manufacturing & engineering change management processes
• Independent thinker and multitasker with a can-do attitude
