Base pay range
$60,000.00/yr - $115,000.00/yr

- Shift: 8:00am to 5:00pm
- Location: Onsite, Victor, NY
Salary Ranges
- Mechanical Designer I: $60,000 - $74,000
- Mechanical Designer II: $75,000 - $99,000
- Mechanical Designer III: $100,000 - $114,000
- Senior Mechanical Designer: $115,000 - $130,000
Job Summary
The Mechanical Designer supports development, fabrication, and evaluation of concepts, products, test fixtures, and process equipment through 3D models and prints. Provides device support in labs and testing environments.
Essential Functions
Mechanical Designer I
- Translate between 3D models (Inventor) and 2D drawings (AutoCAD).
- Develop and refine models and drawings for prototypes and releases.
- Design and detail components and assemblies of low complexity.
- Participate in design reviews and product development teams.
- Create and update patent drawings and illustrations.
- Check drawings for accuracy and standards conformance.
- Design basic tooling and fixtures.
- Communicate project status and issues.
Mechanical Designer II, III
- All functions above.
- Mentor on drafting and modeling techniques.
- Design complex components and assemblies.
- Verify design intent and tolerances.
- Contribute to dFMEAs.
- Communicate with team members and management.
Additional Responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned.
- Participate in labs and development activities.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in 2D CAD and solid modeling; AutoCAD and Inventor preferred, SolidWorks a plus.
- Associates degree in applied science or technical arts; mechanical design or related field preferred.
- Medical device or regulated industry experience preferred.
- Experience with PDM systems preferred, Autodesk Vault a plus.
Experience Levels
- Design experience: I (0-3 years), II (3-5 years), III (5-7 years).
Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to follow document control procedures.
- Basic to advanced skills in Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMA, and reliability principles.
- Understanding of materials, manufacturing, and physics.
