Job summary

System One is seeking a Mechanical Designer to advance GD&T and tolerance analysis for complex assemblies. You will develop robust CAD models in SolidWorks, perform 1-D tolerance stack-ups, and ensure drawings meet ASME Y14.5-2018 standards and TerraPower drafting rules.

The contract role offers remote-offsite work and opportunities to contribute to fast-paced design programs with a focus on quality and accuracy.

Qualifications

• 8+ years CAD experience with SolidWorks.
• GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2018 expertise.
• Experience in 3-D tolerance analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Produce robust CAD models for fast-paced design evolution and derivatives.
• Develop and maintain complex mechanical designs and conduct trade studies.
• Create engineering drawings per ASME Y14.1 and Y14.5 and perform 1-D tolerance stackups.
• Ensure configuration control via PLM/PDM systems.
• Create presentations, documents, and reports as needed.

Job Title: Mechanical Designer – GD&T & Tolerance Analysis
Location: Bellevue, WA
Type: Contract
Pay Range: $52-$85/hr
Work Model: Remote – offsite

Responsibilities

• Produce robust CAD models that facilitate fast-paced design evolution and derivative creation leveraging advanced CAD modeling techniques and methodologies.
• Develop and maintain complex mechanical designs; proactively research and propose unique solutions; conduct trade studies to down-select the best option.
• Use model configurations to support analysis needs, such as Structural, Neutronics, Thermal-Hydraulic, Radiological, Safety, etc.
• Generate complex 3-D tolerance analyses using Sigmetrix CeTol 6? software.
• Review drawings for accuracy of information, correct application of GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2018, and conformance to ASME & TerraPower drafting standards via electronic redline process.
• Document design progress, changes, and decisions via TerraPower’s internal and external online collaboration workspaces.
• Create supporting technical presentations, documents, and reports as needed.
• Create engineering drawings (design, layout, detail, interface control, general arrangement, etc.) per ASME Y14.1 and Y14.5 standards.
• Perform and document 1-D tolerance stack-up calculations.
• Ensure and maintain configuration control of models/drawings via TerraPower’s product data management and product lifecycle management software.
• Regularly review design group generated documents, propose improvements, and contribute to written guidance and standards development.

Requirements

• Demonstrated expertise with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5-2018.
• Experience using 3-D tolerance analysis software, Sigmetrix CeTol 6?, highly preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in CAD with proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Experience using a product data management system (PDM).
• Experience producing engineering drawings in SolidWorks.
• Creative thinker with strong analytical/problem-solving skills and ability to work multiple tasks concurrently with minimum direction.
• Organized and detail-oriented, with excellent writing and communication skills.
• Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Experience in Mechanical and Machine Design.
• The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly, display respect, and show a desire to foster teamwork.
