Job summary

SpaceX, based in Hawthorne, CA, is seeking a Mechanical Designer (HVAC) to design, analyze, and manufacture fluid and HVAC components for world‑class facilities. You will model in CAD, perform analyses, and work with cross‑functional teams to ensure producibility and reliability.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 1+ years of experience with fluid components; preferred are a master’s degree, NX CAD, and GD&T proficiency. Extended hours may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 1+ years of experience with valves, pumps, COPVs, compressors, heat exchangers, etc.

Responsibilities

• Own fluid/HVAC components across campus (compressors, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, dust collection).
• Perform CAD modeling and design of these systems.
• Conduct fluid analyses for pressure balance and component design.
• Collaborate with production, avionics, GNC, and mission operations to meet requirements.
• Ensure manufacturability and smooth transition to reliable manufacturing.
• Assist with material selection, sizing, and procurement support.
