Actalent in Chandler, AZ seeks a Mechanical Designer / Engineering Design Checker for a defense program. You will create and check 3D models and parametric drawings using Siemens NX and Teamcenter, ensuring PMI-driven, paperless workflows and compliance with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.

The role emphasizes fast, accurate modeling and release of drawings to meet schedules and budgets, with strong collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and vendors.

Qualifications

• 1020 years of mechanical design experience in DOD, aerospace, or closely related industries such as automotive.
• Daily, expertlevel use of GD&T per ASME Y14.5, with the ability to act as a subject matter expert and make corrections to drawings.
• Approximately 8/10 proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter, including experience with Unigraphics NX 9.0 and Teamcenter.
• Demonstrated experience with mechanical design, CAD, and aerospace or defense systems.
• Proven ability to check and validate mechanical drawings and 3D models for fit, function, manufacturability, and compliance with standards.
• Strong proficiency with Word, Excel, and Windows operating systems.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with crossfunctional teams and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Check drawing and design packages for proper content and ensure compliance with applicable industry and military standards.
• Review designs for fit, function, manufacturability, and economy of fabrication, including tolerance analysis, hardware selection, and fitment on assembly prints.
• Act as a subject matter expert in GD&T, resolving interpretation issues on drawings and providing guidance to engineering teams.
• Verify 3D models submitted to manufacturing using Siemens NX managed with Teamcenter to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Serve as a liaison with various engineering disciplines, Manufacturing, Quality, and vendors to resolve design and fabrication issues.
• Model fully defined components and assemblies efficiently using Siemens NX managed with Teamcenter.
• Create and revise parametric drawings in conformance with established 3D modeling and drawing standards.
• Review mechanical drawings with appropriate personnel, verifying completed work, dimensions, materials, and quantities to be used.
• Perform mechanical modeling using Siemens NX and Teamcenter to support design and release activities.
• Ensure drawings and models are developed and released on time with minimal quality errors to meet program schedules and budget constraints.
• Use Word, Excel, Windows, NX, and Teamcenter to document, manage, and communicate design information.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally to coordinate work, clarify requirements, and resolve technical issues.
• Work quickly and accurately under schedule pressure while maintaining attention to detail and patience.
• Demonstrate strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
• As requested, supervise and direct the activities of staff involved in design and checking tasks.
• Perform related duties as assigned or required to support the mechanical design and energetics department.
